PALACE Status villa assessment pathway
The PALACE Status pathway considers a villa’s character, design, service, guest experience and sustainable practices.
Published materials describe an eligibility review, an on-site assessment and discussion with the operations team. They are not fully aligned on the visit duration or number of auditors, so ask for the arrangements applicable to your villa in writing.
The commission reviews the application and assessment findings before deciding whether to award the distinction. Training and coaching are optional and do not determine that decision.

The process begins with an application and supporting information about the villa and its operations.
The organisation reviews the file for eligibility before any on-site assessment is arranged. Current scope, expenses, auditors and timing should be confirmed in the proposal.
The assessment findings are considered against the published criteria and submitted for the commission’s award decision.
Criteria cover character, interior and exterior design, service, cuisine, team practices, sustainable development and relevant economic indicators. Review the villa criteria and application file before committing.
Members of the commission
The commission reviews the application and assessment report before deciding on the distinction. Read about the method and contact the team for current membership information.
The director of label appoints the commission chairman and substitute from among the qualified people. The organisation will position as the commission’s administrator and carry out all the administrative tasks within the commission. The functions and obligations related to the commission’s assignments are detailed in Chapter 5 of the Regulations set on 5th November 2020.

Assessment Criteria
The awarding of PALACE Status distinction is based on the assessment criteria listed in this appendix. The indicators for each criterion are not standard facts but set examples to guideline the assessment. The candidate villa are advised to include these elements in the record attached to their application file in order for the commission to examine their full potential. Each criterion is examined separately and is not considered exclusive of other criterion
